Western Front Association - East Kent Branch
Welcome
The branch was formed in February 2001 and nine years on it is good to report that our meetings regularly attract 80 or more people. We aim to provide speakers and activities to attract anyone with an interest in the history of The Great War. Additional events, such as a battlefield tour and local day visits, provide more opportunities to further our knowledge and generate interest.
2005 was the 25th anniversary of the founding of the WFA. The branch began carrying out research for a publication listing places, events and references sources relating to The Great War in the east of Kent to mark this event. Publication finally happened in November 2008. Please contact us for details.
Meetings
The branch meets at The Drill Hall, TA Centre, Sturry Road (A28), Canterbury CT1 1HR (Nearly opposite ASDA store, adjacent to LIDL store). Doors are open from 7.00 and the meeting begins at 7.30 p.m. Late arrivals may have to ring the caretaker's bell by the main gate to gain entry.
We offer a programme of speakers to cater for a wide range of interest - from the home front to the battlefield, from the conduct of armies to the personal experience of individuals.
We aim to create a friendly, lively atmosphere where people with common interests in The Great War can share experience and information, as well as benefiting from high quality speakers.
Newsletter
Our branch newsletter 'Between The Lines' is a resounding success. It is free to those attending the meetings. The Editor welcomes articles, 'filler items', news of events and personal research etc. Please keep them coming. The newsletter is available by post for a nominal subscription, please email for more details.

Please come and find us! Membership of the WFA is not conditional, although we hope that visitors to the branch will join the national association to benefit from the excellent journals published throughout the year and the many other advantages of membership.
